About the IAIABC Forum

The IAIABC Forum is a unique opportunity for workers' compensation peers to gather as a community to share insights and information and generate ideas and strategies. The Forum program promotes discussion and collaboration through committee meetings, roundtables, and social gatherings. Through relationships built and information shared at The Forum, leaders can continue to positively impact their organizations and the greater workers' compensation industry.

Health and Safety Measures

At The Forum, masks are encouraged but not required. Masks will be available to those who wish to wear them. Understanding that attendees each have varying levels of comfort, the IAIABC asks attendees to be respectful of others’ masking choices. Additional health and safety measures at The Forum will include spaced seating; hand sanitizer stations throughout the meeting areas; food buffet attendants; and extra sanitation measures.

  • Assist the Claims Steering Committee with the discovery of business requirements for Notice of Injury. Working in groups we will create user stories to identify who (role), what (goal), and why (benefit) along with the corresponding acceptance criteria.

  • The International Committee will participate in discussion about cross border coverage and employment, particularly the applicability of law in different jurisdictions. Attendees will also discuss the IAIABC WorkCompare database and populating the tables with data from outside the U.S. A discussion of opportunities for engaging peers from systems in Central and South America will also take place.

  • The EDI Systems Committee will examine proposed changes to the Claims Trading Partner tables to clarify the intended functionality of certain instructions. The committee will also work on updates needed for the new POC data element for Claim Administrator FEIN. Finally, the XML QA Team will provide an update on the POC XML project.

  • The Research and Standards Committee will hear a presentation from John Ruser, President and CEO of WCRI, about WCRI's report on telemedicine and the impact of COVID-19, including the expansion of telemedicine during the pandemic, interstate variation, and pricing. Raji Chadarevian, Director, Medical Regulation & Informatics, and Susan Schulte, External and Government Affairs, NCCI, will share a presentation about medical expenditures over time, discussing dollar spend and how spend compares to inflation indices. The Committee will also discuss jurisdictional methods of tracking long-COVID cases and the effects of remote work on claim numbers. Updates on the Committee's two projects, the Claims Measures Survey and COVID-19 Data Call, will be shared.
